  Soul Care

  In light of the rise of self-care and our culture’s heightened awareness of the physical and nutritional practices needed to care for the body and the mind, this series invites us to embrace “soul care.” Soul care isn’t a knock against self-care, but it is a challenge for us to make caring for our inner life a higher priority. This four-week series for adults and students gives us examples and direction from Scripture on how we can care for our souls and develop a deeper, richer relationship with our Lord and Savior in the process.

    Soul Care - Week 1

    Self-care and religious activities serve a purpose in our personal well-being; however, focusing on a list of dos and don’ts can lead to deeper struggles that affect us not only physically and emotionally but also spiritually.

    Soul Care - Week 2

    Lament is more than just feeling grief-stricken or sorrowful after we experience loss or are confronted by our mistakes; it’s a recognition of a wrong that’s been experienced or committed. Lament is an opportunity for us to draw close to the Lord and seek his healing and restoration in our lives.

    Soul Care - Week 3

    Confession and repentance restore our spirits to a right-standing relationship with God. This practice also prevents the Enemy from using shame and grief to hold us hostage to our pasts.

    Soul Care - Week 4

    Praise and thanksgiving together form the capstone of soul care. They take our focus off our failings, our disappointments, our hurts, and ourselves, redirecting our attention to the Lord who loves and cares for us—even when we’re at our worst.
