  You Can’t Handle This

  We’ve all heard the saying “God will only give you what you can handle.” This isn’t always true, however. Sometimes we experience moments that we can’t handle, and in those times, we are reminded that we must continually rely on God. This four-week series for adults or students helps people reckon with pain and suffering and trust God in the process.

    The problem of pain comes from humankind’s fall into sin. God’s heart has always been to redeem and rescue—and more than that, to be connected with his creatures.

    You Can't Handle This - Week 2

    Jesus went through pain and suffering through his crucifixion, and we see him wrestling with this in the garden of Gethsemane. In our suffering, we can take heart that Christ loves us and that suffering is part of what it looks like to commune with him.

    Christ’s atoning death justifies us and gives us a new, righteous identity, from which we can experience intimacy with God and others, and walk through hardship knowing we will receive an inheritance someday

    While we might not be able to parse the reasons for our pain and suffering, we know that Christ is with us and working to redeem our broken creation, broken hearts, and broken world.
