  Organic: The Pastoral Epistles

  Though we call them the “Pastoral Epistles,” 1 & 2 Timothy and Titus are really a collection of books that are concerned with church solidarity and function. The Church is a living organism made of up individuals operating in unity. Through these letters, God gives us His plan for churches to live in optimal health. This 5-week series offers a brief snapshot of the major themes from these books, and can be expanded to cover more material within the Pastoral Epistles.

    Week 1

    Rather than follow false teachers who deceive believers and attempt to make the Church ineffective, we must be prepared to recognize them and remove their influence based on our knowledge of God’s Word.

    God loves his bride (the church), and we must be intentional about taking care of her.

    Week 3

    The Church must intentionally protect what is precious. Paul warns us to guard the purity of the Gospel and the fellowship of believers.

    Enduring hardship well, not the lack of hardship altogether, is a marker of maturity and health for individuals as well as churches.

    The local church should be a place that disciples its people to love God and love others.
