Do Christians have nonnegotiable beliefs, and if so, what are they? This eight-week series looks at eight key topics in evangelical theology that all Christians agree about. Our faith will be challenged as we ask ourselves, “When it comes to my beliefs, what is important and why?”

Convictions - Week 2

There is only one God, who exists eternally as a Trinity of three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each member of the Trinity is fully and equally God yet personally distinct from the others.

Convictions - Week 3

God the Father created everything that exists out of nothing.

Convictions - Week 4

God in the flesh, Jesus Christ, died on the cross, rose from the dead, and ascended to heaven. Christ will return to earth to conclude history and restore God’s plan for humanity.

Convictions - Week 5

The Holy Spirit comes to live within us when we trust in Jesus as our Savior. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, guidance in doing what is right, and spiritual gifts to build up the church and spread the gospel.

Convictions - Week 6

God created men and women to live in relationship with him, but the first humans chose to rebel against God and brought sin in the world. Since that time, all have sinned, and that sin separates us from God.

Convictions - Week 7

God’s grace is greater than our sin.

Convictions - Week 8

The church is the body of Christ, consisting of believers worldwide. God has called believers to gather in local churches.
