Series Guide
Overview
This six-week sermon series over the book of Nehemiah tells the story of Israel’s rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. Despite hardship and pain, the people of Israel saw firsthand how God fulfilled his promises spoken to Jeremiah during the exile. Then, the series draws out the ways God invites all of us to participate in building his kingdom.
Weekly Previews
Week 1
Upon receiving a bad report about the conditions of those who had returned to Judah and the city of Jerusalem, Nehemiah is overcome with grief and seeks God.
Week 2
Nehemiah not only fasted and prayed but also took the initiative to be a vehicle of change to bring forth God’s plan of rebuilding and restoration.
Week 3
Nehemiah comes to Jerusalem and organizes and leads the people to rebuild the walls.
Week 4
Even though Nehemiah has the king’s blessing and the people are eager to rebuild the walls, opposition from others seeks to dishearten the people from accomplishing the work of God.
Week 5
With the walls of Jerusalem completed, the Book of the Law becomes the central focus of the story; it brings about a spiritual renewal among the Israelites.
Week 6
God’s people dedicate the rebuilt walls of Jerusalem to the Lord with a joyful celebration; however, the conclusion of Nehemiah is somewhat anticlimactic.
